The contract extension is for the Ocean BlackHornet rig, which begins in February 2025 in direct continuation of the rig’s current contract. The extension represents approximately $350 million dollars of additional backlog, Diamond said in a news release Sunday.

Nebraska DOT to install ‘diverging diamond’ interchange in West Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A different kind of interchange is coming to West Dodge Road.

Construction begins Monday on the 192nd Street intersection to convert it into a diversion diamond interchange. Work there is expected to continue through much of the year.

“We have this design, a double diverging diamond, or diverging diamond for short that can fit in that space and handle a tremendous amount of traffic volume efficiently,” Tom Goodbarn with Nebraska Department of Transportation, said.

Goodbarn told 6 News this is the second diverging diamond the state will have and said it’s unique design helps eliminate conflict points by switching cars from one side to the other.

“The DDI will let us do that as it’s parallel set up. So, we don’t have to tear the whole bridge out and expand all that,” Goodbarn said.

The DDI will have two lanes to ease the traffic flow North and South bound of the intersection of 192nd St. It will also ease traffic for drivers looking to get onto West Dodge in both the North and South bound directions.

Once it opens, you’ll notice it eliminates the amount of left turns you take by creating more ramps and directional

Biden’s Brother Trashes Chinese Firm’s Gift Amid Impeachment Inquiry

In a twist that reads like a political thriller, James Biden, the younger brother of President Biden, has made a starting admission to House investigators. He discarded a diamond ring that was a gift from a Chinese energy company to Hunter Biden, introducing a new layer in the complex impeachment inquiry.

Gifts, Diamonds, and Political Intrigue

At the heart of this unfolding drama is a diamond, or more precisely, a diamond ring, given to Hunter Biden by a Chinese energy conglomerate, CEFC. This gesture of extravagance occurred around 2015 or 2016, a time when the Biden family’s connections to foreign entities were under less scrutiny than today. Hunter Biden, during his testimony to the impeachment inquiry last week, revealed that he passed the opulent gift to his uncle, Jim Biden. In a jaw-dropping turn of events, Jim Biden testified that he disposed of the diamond, stating he “threw it in the trash.” This incident has thrown a spotlight on the intricate web of relationships and gifts between the Bidens and foreign corporations.

Scrutiny and Speculation

The impeachment inquiry, already a minefield of accusations and counter-allegations, has seized on this revelation. The disposal of such a significant gift raises questions about

Pandora CEO Alexander Lacik says lab-grown diamonds are prioritized for price and design

More than 75 years ago mining giant De Beers began promising sixored young couples that “a diamond is forever.” Since then the market has grown into a $96 billion behemoth—but it turns out the buyers of today are more bothered about price tags than provenance.

Millennials and Generation Z are increasingly shaking up the historic market by shunning the naturally sparkling rock for man-made, lab-grown alternatives. But despite claiming to be the most environmentally conscientious generation yet, young people’s obsession with lab-grown diamonds isn’t because they prioritize the great outdoors—at least, that’s according to Pandora’s CEO.

“When we talk about product choice, there are only two things that actually drive behavior,” Alexander Lacik, who spearheads the world’s largest jeweler, told Fortune.

“You may claim that you do other things,” he adds. “But design is absolutely the most important aspect of your purchase decision on a product—and the second criterion is price.”

The Copenhagen-based company, famous for its charms, didn’t have any presence in the diamond industry until 2021. That was, until it was realized it could “democratize” the sparkling stones for the masses with affordable lab-grown alternatives.

The company first tested the waters with its Pandora Brilliance collection in

Former Anglo American Chief Joins Diamond Standard

Diamond Standard has added former De Beers chairman and Anglo American CEO Mark Cutifani to its advisory board.

Cutifani, currently chairman of Vale Base Metals, has joined Diamond Standard as the company gets ready to launch listed financial products for diamonds, it said Tuesday. The new offering will enable investors to diversify into an under-allocated asset with significant upside potential, the New York-based company, which developed an exchange-traded diamond commodity with regulatory approval, explained.

Previously, Cutifani was CEO of Anglo American from 2013 to 2022, and he also served as chairman at Anglo American-owned De Beers.

“Mark’s global perspective and experience will help us to apply our technology to unlock other natural resources as investable assets,” said Diamond Standard founder Cormac Kinney.

Lightbox to experiment with reduced prices for lab-created diamonds

Lab-created diamond brand Lightbox Jewelry will experiment with reduced prices in a bid to navigate challenging market conditions.

Lightbox Jewelry is operated by the De Beers Group. In a report published on 22 February, parent company Anglo American said that declining prices are expected to reinforce the difference between lab-created and natural diamonds among consumers.

“The wholesale prices of lab-grown diamonds are falling sharply, leading to financial challenges at some leading lab-grown diamond producers,” the statement reads.

“These price declines are expected to lead to further substantial reductions in retail prices, with De Beers’ Lightbox brand testing significantly lower prices for its products.”

Lightbox’s current model has a base price of $USD800 ($AUD1,226) per carat, while its high-end collection is priced at $USD1,500 ($AUD2,300) per carat. Lower-quality Lightbox Basics stones are sold for $USD600 ($AUD920) per carat.

Under the test, standard products will retail at $USD600 ($AUD920) for loose stones, while the Finest line will be sold at $USD1,000 ($AUD1,533) per carat.

“The test is focused on ensuring Lightbox reflects prevailing [lab-grown diamond] sector dynamics,” a spokesperson told Rapaport News.

Lightbox was launched in 2018 and is based in Portland, Oregon, producing more than 200,000 diamonds annually.

De Beers Group Confirms Readiness For New G7 Diamond Import Requirements

Ahead of new diamond import requirements from G7 nations starting on 1 March, De Beers Group confirms that it anticipates no disruption to its diamond supply. To underpin confidence in the provenance of diamonds, De Beers has also progressed the collaboration between Tracr and Sarine Technologies through the signing of a Heads of Terms.

De Beers fully supports the G7’s intentions to prohibit the import of Russian diamonds. Over more than a decade, De Beers has developed proprietary Best Practice Principles and Pipeline Integrity standards that provide assurance on the provenance of its diamonds. These third-party audited programs ensure De Beers rough diamond customers can provide evidence of provenance for diamonds, meeting the requirements of the new rules that will apply from 1 March. In addition, De Beers has developed the technologically advanced Tracr blockchain platform to provide digital provenance records. More than two-thirds of the total value of De Beers’ diamond production is now registered on the platform, providing an immutable record of provenance from the point of source.

De Beers has also announced the signing of a Heads of Terms for collaboration between Sarine Technologies, the leading provider of diamond scanning technology, and Tracr. The Tracr-Sarine collaboration will
