A UK falconer trains owls to deliver rings at wedding ceremony

At a recent wedding ceremony in Britain, guests gasped when it came time for the couple to exchange rings.

A large, white barn owl suddenly swooped in, soaring down the aisle with a tiny pouch attached to one of its legs.

The owl, named Juno, landed on the gloved hand of the best man, who gently untied the pouch and retrieved the wedding rings before the bird flew back to its handler.

It is a growing wedding trend for couples who enjoy animal appearances at their nuptials. Cats and dogs have long done the honors for couples who don’t have, or don’t want, a person for the task. Wedding ceremonies are increasingly incorporating other animals, including alpacas, goats and even penguins.

Groom Derek Derby said guests probably took more photos of Juno the owl than of him and his bride at their Jan. 27 weddings in Chester, England.

Owl ring bears have become more popular at British weddings in the years since the success of the Harry Potter books and films, in a nod to Hedwig, Harry’s snowy owl that was delivered mail without an address, bird trainer Ryan Stocks said.

Juno is one of Stocks’s two ring bearer owls.

Sheffield Man Embarks on Quest to Return Lost Ring from America, 8 Years On

When Mark Crossland, a resident of Sheffield, found a package at his doorstep, little did he know he was about to embark on a heartwarming mission. The package, originating from Virginia in October 2016, held a ring intended for Jodie Stevenson, the previous occupant. Despite the passage of nearly eight years, Crossland is determined to reunite the lost item with its rightful owner.

Unopened Mysteries and Global Connections

Upon discovering the parcel, Crossland was intrigued by its contents without even opening it. The feel of the package suggested a ring nestled inside, a conclusion that piqued his curiosity about the story behind this long-delayed delivery. With Stevenson no longer residing at the Whitham Road address, the challenge of locating him has become a quest that Crossland is eager to undertake. His respect for the item’s potential sentimental value has kept him from breaking the seal, opting instead to seek out Stevenson through other means.

A Digital Call to Action

Samsung Galaxy Ring first impressions

Samsung unveiled its first foray into the smart ring category with the Galaxy Ring earlier today and since we’re attending MWC, we got to see the health tracker in person. It comes in three official colors – Ceramic Black, Platinum Silver, and Gold.

The ring features an interesting design choice – it’s concave so the sides taper into the middle, kind of like a miniature car rim. It’s also really shiny regardless of which color you pick up, and seems like it will attract plenty of smudges. All of the demo units were placed behind glass but Samsung representatives assured us it’s extremely light and easy to wear 24/7.

Galaxy Ring will be offered in US ring sizes 5 – 13 with the exact size specified on the inside of the ring. One key aspect is that the bigger-sized rings will offer slightly larger batteries but there are no specifics from Samsung at the moment.

Samsung did not reveal the specific sensors inside the Galaxy Ring but we did get info that it will offer extensive sleep tracking with heart rate, breathing rate, night movement, and the ability to detect early signs of sleep apnea.

The upcoming Lord of the Rings movies would be great with Chris Evans, and Sean Astin gives him his blessing

Popverse’s top stories of the day

Just imagine – you’re a fantasy fan, you become an actor, and then the cast of Lord of the Rings say that they could see you in the franchise. Such was the case for Marvel’s own Chris Evans at this year’s Emerald City Comic Con, as Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, and John Rhys Davies gave him their blessing to be in future films.

This incredible event in nerd history took place at the Walking to Mordor with the Cast of Lord of the Rings panel, hosted by Popverse’s own Tolkien expert Ashley Victoria Robinson. At the end of the panel, Ashley referenced the panel that had taken place just before theirs, a spotlight on Chris Evans in which the Steve Rogers actor revealed that he’d like to do a fantasy film like Lord of the Rings.

“Would you welcome Captain America into the Lord of the Rings family?” she asks.

“I’m the gatekeeper by the way,” jokes Sean Astin, “so I bless the concept.”

“I love Chris Evans,” says Elijah Wood, “I love all the choices that he makes as an actor and beyond all the Marvel stuff, but yeah. And listen, apparently there’s

Samsung starts production of the Galaxy Ring next month

Jakarta (ANTARA) –

Samsung is rumored to be starting the product production process wearables the new, previously widely discussed, Galaxy Ring next month.

According to the GSMArena page, Saturday (29/7), Samsung has reportedly completed development of the ring-shaped product and will start production next month.

The South Korean technology giant also has a supplier of the hardware needed for the Galaxy Ring ring, so the company just needs to determine when the mass production process can begin.

Even though the production time is getting closer, Samsung will only release the Galaxy Ring in 2024. Apart from having to go through a number of regulatory processes, the product also needs to undergo a series of certification processes to obtain status as a medical device.

Previously, devices wearables Samsung’s Galaxy Watch, which offers heart rhythm detection capabilities, has also passed the medical device certification process.

The certification process could take several months so that the new Galaxy Ring can be launched on the market next year.

Is Justin Bieber Unwell? Father-In-Law’s Cryptic Post Rings Social Media Alarms

Is Justin Bieber Unwell? Father-In-Law's Cryptic Post Rings Social Media Alarms
The singer had to postpone his ‘Justice World Tour’ concert dates because of an ‘undisclosed illness’. Justin shared in a video on Instagram that he had begun to experience ‘full paralysis’ on the right side of his face.

The singer has been open about his health battles. For example, in June 2022, he announced that he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which is a rare neurological disorder characterized by paralysis of the facial nerve.

Is something wrong with Justin Bieber’s health? This question has crossed the minds of many social media users lately after Bieber’s father-in-law, actor Stephen Baldwin, asked fans to “pray” for him and wife Hailey Bieber. It sparked concerns for the pop star’s well-being, especially since in the past he has been quite vocal about his health struggles. Just last week, Baldwin, 57, shared a strange story on Instagram, wherein he asked for prayers for his daughter and son-in-law. According to reports, it was reposted from a now-unavailable Instagram reel from one Victor Marx, the founder of All Things Possible Ministries, (a religious organization in California) who wrote over a clip of the singer playing the guitar: “Christians, please when you think of Justin and

University of Waterloo engineers have invented a powerful antenna small enough to fit in a ring and capable of transmitting critical medical data to health care workers and individual patients.

The ring, small enough to be worn like a piece of jewelry, contains a tiny antenna that can safely send medical-related information to smartphones or a health clinic over long distances through airwaves. This breakthrough is the first step to creating a device that can be used for non-invasive medical sensing applications such as monitoring blood and oxygen levels, assessing one’s fitness or tracking Parkinson’s disease.

“There is a revolution going on in the wireless sensing world,” explained lead researcher Dr. Omar Ramahi, a professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. “But this revolution cannot succeed without the antenna.”

This novel ring is classified as an Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) device, which is characterized as tools and applications that work together through a network that can monitor vital signs and track disease progression. These biomedical monitoring systems include wearable antennas which help maintain wireless links and transmit information collected by sensors throughout the body.

Wearable antenna development has exploded over the past decade
