Millie Bobby Brown nearly lost engagement ring in underwater proposal

Millie Bobby Brown is revealing how a drop in the ocean nearly ruined Jake Bongiovi’s marriage proposal to her.

The Stranger Things star, 20, recently told the story of how Bongiovi, 21, popped the question while the couple were diving together — and that she nearly lost the engagement ring moments later.

“One day, we were on vacation and he was like, ‘Mill, you got to be up at 8:00 a.m. We’re going on a dive.’ And I was like, ‘8:00 a.m. dive?’” Brown recalled on Thursday’s episode of The Tonight Show. “And he’s telling me like, ‘We’re going to the same spot we usually go to.’ I’m like, ‘It’s boring. Let’s go somewhere new.’ He’s like, ‘No, we have to go to this spot.’”

She explained that the pair were “many meters down” when Bongiovi suddenly handed her a shell with a ring in it. “And I looked at him and he was like, ‘Blulululu!’” she said, before miming being confused by Bongiovi’s underwater bubble speech.

Brown also revealed that saying yes to his proposal was even more complicated, because a traditional thumbs-up means that you want to ascend when diving.

With wedding season approaching, college students are leaning toward engagement ring trends that spotlight affordability.

Megan Dale, a recently engaged young adult, said her fiance took the lead in choosing her wedding ring. Selecting a budget-friendly approach, they successfully secured the ring of her dreams. Dale and her fiance chose a 2.85-carat moissanite diamond ring.

According to Dale, moissanite diamonds and natural diamonds are so similar it’s hard to spot the difference.

“I can’t even tell the difference. If he hadn’t told me, I would’ve never guessed,” she said.

Dale gave her highest recommendations for moissanite stones, especially to those trying to get engagement rings on a budget.

Forge Jewelry is a Provo-based jeweler. Owner and CEO Rischelle Mikkelson shared the following top engagement ring trends for 2024:

  • Large center stone solitaires, particularly with oval and emerald cuts.
  • The snowdrift design, featuring smaller side stones for an organic aesthetic.
  • Toi et moi design, showcasing two similar-sized center stones side-by-side. Additionally, 14-karat yellow gold slightly edges out white and rose gold preferences.
  • Wide bands.
  • East-West center stone settings, which tilt the main

Prepare to Be Blinded By Victoria Beckham’s 15 Engagement Rings

You’ll wannabe Victoria Beckham after seeing her dazzling collection of engagement rings.

Rumors have it David Beckham has gifted the former Spice Girls with at least 15 diamond sparklers throughout their 24 years of marriage.

And no, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. Over the years, Victoria has showcased more than a dozen engagement rings that range from brightly colored gemstones to massively shaped diamond cuts.

Of course, the fashion designer’s impressive collection first started with David’s 1998 proposal.

At the time, the world-famous soccer player popped the big question to Posh Spice with a three-carat, marquise cut diamond placed on a simple gold band. According to WWDthe jewelry piece was worth approximately $85,000 (which would be about $160,000 if he had purchased it in 2023).

Many likes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s 2017 engagement announcement, David and Victoria shared the exciting news at a press conference in Cheshire, England. The following year, they would tie the knot (in coordinated looks, of course!) and become celebrity couple royalty.

Iconic Aussie jeweler creates Prime Minister’s engagement ring

In an unusual first for Australian politics, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced his engagement to partner Jodie Haydon on Valentine’s Day.

Albanese broke the news by posting a picture of the pair on social media with the caption, “She said yes”. Depending on the timing of the event, he is expected to be the first Australian prime minister to get married while in office.

Speculation immediately arose around the specifics of the custom-made diamond ring Haydon has since been seen wearing.

Albanese revealed that he chose Cerrone Jewelers in Leichhardt, New South Wales, for the ring. While the specifics of the piece remain uncertain, it’s believed to be a three-carat round brilliant cut diamond set in an 18-carat rose bold band.

“I sat down with him [Nicola Cerrone] and his daughter and went through what it would look like to design, and then we exchanged ideas about that, and they put it together,” Albanese told Nova FM.

“And that’s special because it’s one of a kind, which is the kind of work that Cerrone produces, and it’s made in Grayndler in the inner west of Sydney, which I’m really proud of as well.”

Roses are red, violets are blue, gemstones are hot and prices are too.

Valentine’s Day has long been one of the most popular days of the year for jewelry and engagements. US consumers will spend a record $6.4 billion on jewelry around Valentine’s Day this year, representing 10% of the total annual spend, according to Ankur Daga, founder and CEO of fine jewelry e-commerce company Angara.

This year, the contents of those ring boxes may look a little different from the traditional, natural diamond solitaire.

“We’re seeing a shift in much larger center stone engagement rings, primarily as a result of lab-grown diamonds, and sapphires and rubies tend to be very hot,” Daga said.

A decade ago, about 5% of engagement rings were colored gemstones, according to Daga. Now, it’s more than 15%.

More than 20% of people would upgrade their engagement ring to a colored gemstone — such as an emerald, yellow diamond or pink sapphire, for example — if they could, Daga said, citing results of a survey Angara commissioned of more than 2,000

Meghan Markle’s engagement ring from Harry ’causes issues’ and needs ‘care’ | Royal | News

When they announced their engagement in 2017, Harry said he chose the band because it matched the rest of Meghan’s jewellery.

Harry got help designing the ring from Cleave and Company. They were the favorite jewelers of the late Queen Elizabeth.

Harry explained why he chose the ring: “The ring is obviously yellow gold because that’s her favorite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewelery collection, to make sure she’s with us on this crazy journey together.”

Ingrid Seward, the editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, found it strange that Meghan decided to change her engagement ring.

She said: “I find it a bit odd that Meghan would want to change a ring that her husband had especially designed for her. A royal engagement ring is a piece of history not a bit of jewelery to be updated when it looks old fashioned.”

Meghan’s ring is believed to be worth more than £120,000.

Ben Roberts, the boss of Clogau, a company known for making the Welsh gold used in Royal rings since 1923, explained how looking after such a valuable ring can be tricky.

Are lab-grown diamonds ‘worthless’? Experts weigh in as engagement ring priorities shift for millennials, Gen Z

Fashion creator Jasmine Darya is one of many social media users who took her TikTok followers along on her wedding planning journey in 2023. In several videos, the 27-year-old talks about her engagement ring search, which focuses heavily on lab-grown diamonds . The bride-to-be was met with so many negative comments from viewers about her diamond choice that she felt compelled to post about it.

“If you buy a lab-grown diamond, leave your money at the door,” one person wrote. “It’s worth the minute you buy it.”

“I honestly don’t understand why you would get a mined diamond right now, at this point in time,” Darya responded, referring to concerns about unethical mining. “A lab-grown diamond is just a diamond that’s made in a lab.”

Darya fits into the demographic of the next generation of brides and grooms who are gravitating toward lab-grown diamonds for engagement rings. Nehal Zaveri, the CEO and co-founder of Los Angeles-based jeweler Diamond Wish, told Yahoo News that he’s noticed a rise in interest over the last five years — specifically with consumers who are under 30.

“They would prefer to spend money on other things like a house or a vacation,” Zaveri explained. “Older

De Beers Ends Lab-Grown Engagement-Ring Test

Lightbox, De Beers’ lab-grown diamond brand, has called off its trial of engagement rings, citing a lack of business prospects.

“Through the test, the company deepened its understanding of LGDs [lab-grown diamonds] and evaluate the changing landscape and consumer perceptions associated with them,” De Beers said in a statement Wednesday. “Lightbox will continue to focus on where it sees the most promising future opportunities in the sector — in fashion jewelry and in loose stones at accessible price points — and will not sell [lab-grown diamond] engagement rings.”

Lightbox quietly introduced a small line of engagement rings in June. The industry reacted with a mixture of anger and, in some cases, a lack of surprise, since the company had gradually been rolling back some of the claims it made about synthetics when Lightbox launched in 2018.

The test reinforced De Beers’ view that the “commercial proposition for many [lab-grown] engagement ring offers is likely unsustainable,” it added. Retailers already need to double the number of synthetic-diamond carats sold every two years to maintain a flat absolute gross profit, management explained.

A recent De Beers consumer survey found that the primary motivation for buying lab-grown was price, the miner continued.

The evolution of engagements and rings as symbols of commitment

Winter will be here soon, and that means peak wedding season is almost over.

But wedding planners say they’re already planning for another busy year in 2024, so it got us thinking, why do we wear wedding rings?

“If you like it, then you should put a ring on it.” We all know the words of Beyoncé.

But where did this tradition come from?

Contrary to what your newly engaged friend might want you to think, they did not invent the wedding ring.

Like a lot of old traditions, the exact history of wedding rings is murky. But one belief dates back to ancient Egypt.

Egyptian pharaohs believed rings symbolized eternity because of their circular shape, with no beginning and no end.

Egyptians also believed in the “vena amoris,” or “vein of love.” They thought there was a vein in the fourth finger on the left hand connected directly to the heart. That’s why it’s still common to wear a wedding ring on that finger.

When Alexander the Great conquered Egypt, the Greeks adopted the tradition of gifting a ring to show devotion. The tradition carried on when the Romans conquered the Greeks.
