Former Anglo American Chief Joins Diamond Standard

Diamond Standard has added former De Beers chairman and Anglo American CEO Mark Cutifani to its advisory board.

Cutifani, currently chairman of Vale Base Metals, has joined Diamond Standard as the company gets ready to launch listed financial products for diamonds, it said Tuesday. The new offering will enable investors to diversify into an under-allocated asset with significant upside potential, the New York-based company, which developed an exchange-traded diamond commodity with regulatory approval, explained.

Previously, Cutifani was CEO of Anglo American from 2013 to 2022, and he also served as chairman at Anglo American-owned De Beers.

“Mark’s global perspective and experience will help us to apply our technology to unlock other natural resources as investable assets,” said Diamond Standard founder Cormac Kinney.
