Sales of the game “Elden Ring” reached 23 million copies

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Game company Bandai Namco announced that sales of its popular game “Elden Ring” have reached 23 million copies.

According to IGN’s report on Friday, the achievement was conveyed as part of the announcement of additional downloadable content (downloadable content/DLC) “Shadow of the Erdtree” which is scheduled for release this June.

Sales of 23 million copies were obtained from sales of physical copies of the game and downloads on online platforms such as Steam. This figure shows the success of this game developed by FromSoftware.

For comparison, the game “Hogwarts Legacy”, which was named the best-selling game in 2023, has sales of 24 million copies with revenues of more than 1 billion US dollars (Rp. 15.5 trillion).

Sales of this game also surpassed titles that carry similar genres, namely action and role-playing games such as “Dark Souls”, “Demon’s Souls”, “Sekiro”, and “Bloodborne”.

In a special interview, the head of the development team from FromSoftware, Hidetaka Miyazaki, said that his party might work on a sequel to “Elden Ring” or present more DLC such as “Shadow of the Erdtree” although he did not want to reveal more information about this.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Chinese game company Tencent was working on an adaptation of the game “Elden Ring” for mobile devices. The game will carry the concept of “gacha like in the game “Genshin Impact”. However, fans have to be patient because the game’s development progress is slow.
