Bangkok Gems Fair sets record trade value

The 74th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair concluded with historic trade numbers, marking a significant milestone for Thailand’s gems and jewelry industry. Running from September 8 to 12, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, the event attracted over 50,000 buyers and attendees, reflecting a 12% rise compared to the previous edition. International participants accounted for 74% of the total, with the largest delegations coming from India, Myanmar, China, Japan, and Sri Lanka. Emerging markets also expanded their presence, contributing to the fair’s diverse global reach.
The fair’s total trade value reached THB 5.8 billion (174 million USD), up 31% from the last edition. This outcome strengthened Thailand’s standing as a leading global marketplace for colored gemstones, machinery, fine jewelry, silver, and diamonds. Colored gemstones alone represented 35% of the total trade volume, further establishing Bangkok’s prominence in this specialized sector.
Organizers reported that 1,300 exhibitors from 20 countries occupied 2,800 booths across eight halls. The event’s success was supported by 17 partner organizations, both public and private, which helped position the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair among the world’s top four international trade events in the industry.
Thailand’s reputation for gemstone cutting and enhancement techniques played a decisive role in the fair’s achievements. Sumed Prasongpongchai, Director-General of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), emphasized that the country’s ability to process raw materials and re-export finished products continues to draw global demand. This expertise ensures Thailand remains a critical player in international gem and jewelry trade networks.
The fair also featured specialized exhibitions, including The Craft of Brilliance, which highlighted Thai jewelry craftsmanship, and The Ones to Watch, a platform for emerging designers. Additional attractions included networking sessions, professional gem testing services, and industry seminars focused on market trends and technological advancements. These components reinforced the event’s role as both a commercial hub and a center for knowledge exchange.
Planning for the next edition is already underway, with the 75th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair scheduled for February 23–27, 2027, at the same venue. Interested parties can contact organizers at 02 634 4999 ext. 639 or 02 507 8393, or visit www.bkkgems.com for reservations and additional information.
